Level 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care

Course Objectives

This course is designed to help carers acquire skills suitable for helping clients in care settings and at home to develop and maintain their independence.

Commencement September, January, July

Entry Requirements

  • Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Care
  • Substantial working experience in the field

Course Structure:

The qualification has two pathways - Adults & Children and Young People. To obtain this qualification a total of 8 units must be completed for each pathway, 4 core and 4 optional units.

Core Modules (Generic)

  1. Promote effective communication for and about individuals
  2. Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the working environment 
  3. Reflect on and develop your practice

Core Modules (Children and Young People)

  1. Promote the well-being and protection of children and young people

Core Modules (Adult)

  1. Promote choice, well-being and the protection of all individuals

In addition candidates will have to choose 4 more modules out of 22 options (Children and Young People pathway) and 4 modules out of 10 (Adult pathway).

Registration and Exams

Registration and awarding body fees are paid together with the school fees.

Career Opportunities

This Course equips an individual to work confidently as a senior care assistant in care Homes such as Nursing Homes, Residential Homes, Hospitals as well as domiciliary care settings. After this Level a candidate may wish to progress onto Level 4 in Care.
